MY APPROACH

IFS focuses on the internal dialogue we have with ourselves all day; it puts language to the many parts that make up us. Oftentimes, these parts are younger, child-like parts we have been taught or shamed into rejecting. With so many fragmented parts of us, we are left feeling conflicted, alone, confused, anxious, & depressed. IFS helps you create a new relationship with your own “internal family” & by re-parenting and supporting these parts you can live from calmness, confidence, & clarity.

Somatics is the study & practice of the mind-body connection; this type of therapy doesn’t change the way we think; rather it changes the way we FEEL. We will move away from thoughts, interpretations, & over-analyzing; and move towards internal sensations, emotions, and being with the body. It is possible to find an internal sense of safety, even in a chaotic world.

Attachment-based therapy tends to the emotional wounding we had as children in the first 5 years of our life. We learn to understand how & why we relate to people we do by discovering unmet needs. It helps us bring awareness to the ways we may be anxious or avoidant about intimacy. We heal our attachment through new, reparative relationships - a relationship with a therapist is a beautiful place to start.

Polyvagal theory teaches us how to understand our own nervous system; it educates us on the ways we may be stuck in a chronic pattern of flight, fight, freeze, or fawn. Essentially, feeling stressed even when “all appears well.” With attention to nervous system work; we move from surviving to thriving. We also expand our capacity to feel discomfort without running away, numbing, or agitation.
